Mila Celebrations secures $227,000 in pre-seed funding

Mila Celebrations, a Saudi event planning platform, raised $227,000 (SAR 850,000) in pre-seed funding from angel investors. Founded in early 2024 by Muhammad Ghourbal, the platform offers a one-stop solution for events like weddings and birthdays. So far, Mila has organized over 1,000 events and is tapping into Saudi Arabia’s SAR 50 billion event industry.

Family celebrations are a major part of Saudi culture, with high spending on birthdays and weddings. Users on Mila’s platform spend over SAR 3,000 on birthdays, and wedding costs often exceed SAR 200,000.

Mila provides a full range of services, including decor, catering, photography, and entertainment. Founder Muhammad Ghourbal highlighted the growing demand for premium event services, saying, “We aim to make celebrating special moments simpler and more enjoyable.”

Saudi Arabia ranks high in wedding spending per capita, giving Mila a strong market. The new funding will enhance its app, expand services, and target corporate events.

With Saudi Vision 2030 driving economic diversification and tourism, the event industry is set to grow further. Mila aims to expand into the broader Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) market.
