KBW Ventures, led by Saudi Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed, has made its first foray into Egypt’s startup scene by investing in NoorNation, a climate technology company. Established in 2021 by Ragy Ramadan and Mohamed Khaled, NoorNation specializes in providing decentralized energy and water solutions for off-grid regions in Egypt and Sub-Saharan Africa. Their primary offering, LifeBox, is a versatile mobile unit that supplies clean energy and safe water to rural communities, agricultural sectors, and the tourism industry at an affordable rate.
NoorNation gained significant recognition after being named the Best Green Tech Startup of the Year in Northern Africa by the Global Startup Awards in 2024. The company also participated in the PepsiCo Greenhouse Accelerator Programme: MENA Sustainability Edition, where it secured a $20,000 grant and received valuable mentorship over six months.
Prince Khaled noted that NoorNation’s approach aligns perfectly with KBW Ventures’ focus on climate technology, emphasizing its potential for social impact and scalability. The decision to invest was influenced by NoorNation’s compelling pitch during the accelerator program, which highlighted its innovative solutions and rapid market readiness. This investment marks a significant step for KBW Ventures in supporting sustainable and impactful startups in the region.
