Bokra and CIC Launch $207K Fund for Student Entrepreneurs

Egypt-based fintech company Bokra has partnered with the Canadian International College (CIC) to launch a $207,000 fund aimed at supporting Egyptian students aspiring to become entrepreneurs. This new initiative will provide students with guidance through Bokra Academy, a platform designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice.

Bokra’s Strategic Partnership with CIC: A Pivotal Moment for Egypt’s Entrepreneurs

In April 2023, Bokra, founded by Ayman El-Sawy, secured $4.6 million in a pre-seed funding round. Bokra, the first goal-achievement app in the MENA region backed by real assets, then announced its partnership with the Canadian International College (CIC). This collaboration marks a major step for Egypt’s educational and entrepreneurial sectors. The launch of an EGP 10 million fund aims to support CIC students with innovative ideas and help them start their entrepreneurial journeys.

The launch event, which attracted over 1,000 students, introduced the EGP 10 million fund. It is the first initiative under this partnership, designed to nurture early-stage student ventures. The fund offers small-scale financial support and mentorship to encourage innovation.

Empowering a New Generation of Entrepreneurs with Bokra

Ayman El-Sawy, Founder and CEO of Bokra, highlighted the company’s mission. “At Bokra, our goal is clear – we make financial aspirations achievable.” He added that the partnership with CIC reflects their commitment to building a stronger startup ecosystem. The goal is to equip young entrepreneurs with the tools, resources, and funding they need to succeed.

El-Sawy emphasized that the EGP 10 million fund paves the way for a future of innovation in Egypt. It turns entrepreneurship into a reality for those looking to create change.

Magdy El Kady, Chairman of CIC, also expressed excitement about the partnership. He said this collaboration creates opportunities for the next wave of innovators to unlock their potential and impact Egypt’s society and economy.

The partnership also launched “Bokra Academy,” a platform aimed at bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world skills. This initiative offers students certified courses to help them transition from education to employment or entrepreneurship, contributing to Egypt’s growing digital economy.

“Bokra Academy” provides free online courses in areas like financial planning, marketing, technology, artificial intelligence, and corporate law. Graduates can access job opportunities within Bokra and its partner organizations, paving the way for professional growth.

Certified graduates will also have fast-tracked access to the EGP 10 million fund, jointly financed by Bokra and CIC. This fund provides young entrepreneurs with the necessary resources to turn their ideas into successful businesses. Overall, this partnership marks a significant step in empowering Egypt’s youth, driving innovation, and boosting economic growth in the region.
